Io sono qui (subtitled Between the Last Words of Farewell and When the Music Goes) is an album by Claudio Baglioni, released on September 28, 1995, the second chapter of the artist’s time trilogy, where Oltre represents the past, Io sono qui the present and Viaggiatore sulla coda del tempo the future.
The theme of the album revolves around the dualism between actors and spectators, suggesting that we are all protagonists of both our own lives and those of others. The album explores the relationship between fiction and reality, showing how life is suspended between these two worlds. The album is structured like a film, with a beginning, an end, an interlude, and a first, second, third and fourth time. These “times” embedded in the album between the various songs anticipate the subsequent songs, describing them as real cinematic scenes.
The album, upon its release, remained at the top of the FIMI Album Chart for 4 consecutive weeks, selling over 400,000 copies in the first two weeks of release alone, thus obtaining 4x platinum discs.
