Sugar Sugar/La rete d’oro is Lorella Cuccarini’s debut single, released by Polydor in 1985.

It was a recording success, placing 2nd in the hit parade on January 4, 1986, while in the ranking of the best-selling records of the year it placed 49th.

Sugar Sugar, written by Silvio Testi, Danilo Aielli, Franco Miseria and Renato Serio, was the theme song for the Rai 1 Saturday night variety show Fantastico 6, hosted by Pippo Baudo, who had discovered Cuccarini as a chorus girl during a convention of Algida on 14 February 1985 and decided to make her debut on television as the new showgirl of Fantastico (replacing Heather Parisi) on 5 October of the same year.

Since February 2023, the song’s refrain has been used as the opening theme of the BellaMa’ television show.
