Nero a metà is the third studio album by the Italian singer-songwriter Pino Daniele, published in 1980 by EMI Italiana.
It is the album of the definitive maturation and affirmation at a national level of the Neapolitan singer-songwriter who – supported by excellent musicians of the Neapolitan scene – creates a work that is always fresh even in the songs that go outside the cheerfully bluesy schemes to which Pino Daniele’s audience was widely accustomed. The songs “Nun me scuccià” and “Sotto ‘o sole” also bear the signature of the drummer Mauro Spina.
As can be read in the liner notes, the album is dedicated to the singer of the Showmen Mario Musella, who died shortly before the release of the album, defined by Pino Daniele as “Nero a metà” as he was the son of a Neapolitan mother and a Native American father (in Italy because of the war).
The album sold over 300,000 copies and is present in the ranking of the 100 most beautiful Italian records of all time according to Rolling Stone Italia at position number 17.
