The Blessed Madonna: «Call me “doctor of love”»
“Mercy” is her latest single and it went strong in Italy too. She remains a fine example of a talent who despite adversity believed with all her strength in success.
There are several reasons to love The Blessed Madonna (real name Marea Stamper), so far from the clichés of superstar DJs. For example, for her “mutual insurance” glasses that are very Morrissey-era The Smiths, for her black t-shirts, always carrying messages (Jesus was a refugee, Punch your local Neo-Nazi). But above all for her tough optimism and the talent that she has been able to show us over time.
The Blessed Madonna at the time when she chose to call herself “The Black Madonna” – a moniker abandoned after a wave of comments from haters on social media in 2020 – had the strength and courage to bring back into fashion a sunny house full of soul, energy and sunshine, bearer of all those messages of inclusivity, tolerance but also transgression that were the basis of the house nights in Chicago, New York and London 40 years ago.
